Choose accredited Balikbayan Box Forwarders, BOC urges OFWs

Manila, Philippines – The Bureau of Customs (BOC) has advised overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) to be cautious in selecting accredited cargo forwarders as they prepare their balikbayan boxes for shipment during the holiday season.

BOC spokesperson Vincent Maronilla emphasized the importance of checking the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) website for a list of accredited consolidators who handle balikbayan box shipments.

Maronilla suggested exercising “extraordinary diligence” in choosing a consolidator or forwarder with a reputable track record. He also recommended coordinating with the Door-to-Door Consolidators of the Philippines (DDCAP) to obtain information on the rating of shipments. DDCAP not only monitors its members but also aims to prevent issues such as fraudulent activities and failure to deliver parcels to loved ones.

By following these guidelines, OFWs can ensure a smooth and secure delivery of their balikbayan boxes to their intended recipients.
