Germany has increased of the minimum wage for Filipino workers who will be recruited under a project with the Philippine government, the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) said.

The POEA said nurses who were interviewed and have signed employment contracts under the Triple Win Project as of January 1 will receive 2.000 euros (P118,200) before and 2,400 (P141,800) after recognition as qualified nurse. The previous minimum wage was 1,900 euros (P112,200) and 2,300 euros.

The increase, however, does not apply to nurses who have already arrived in Germany and whose employment contracts were already signed in 2018 but were not processed at the POEA yet.

As of January 28, the POEA had to fill up 400 vacancies for the Triple Win project.

The employer will pay the visa and airfare from the Philippines to Germany and will assist the employee find a suitable accommodation. The selected nurse will bear the expenses in full or in part of the board and lodging.

The POEA warned applicants illegal online recruitment activities after it received reports of a website run by alleged illegal recruiters who promised nursing jobs in Germany.

POEA Administrator Bernard P. Olalia discourages jobseekers from submitting their application, as well as personal information via online and instead personally submit their documents at the Manpower Registry Division of POEA.
