While there were sunny days earlier this week, it will be colder and cloudy this weekend in the city, according to the Hong Kong Observatory (HKO).

The HKO said there will be a few rain patches and isolated thunderstorms tomorrow (March 23) while the weather on Sunday will be windy and “cloudy with a few rain patches.”

“Light winds, becoming fresh east to northeasterlies around midnight, and rain will become more frequent with isolated thunderstorms. Winds will strengthen gradually tomorrow,” the Observatory said.

“It will be appreciably cooler with temperatures falling gradually from about 23 degrees at first to around 18 degrees tomorrow night,” it added.

While the temperature tomorrow will range from 18 to 23 degrees Celsius, it is expected to go down to 17 to 20 degrees on Sunday.

“Still a few rain patches on Sunday with windy and cooler weather,” the HKO said.

It said the northeast monsoon associated with a cold front will be bringing “appreciably cooler weather to southern China during the weekend.”

“With the monsoon being replaced by a humid maritime airstream gradually, the weather will improve and temperatures over the south China coast will rise next week,” it added.
