Hong Kong has logged a total of 9,018 Covid-19 cases to date as health authorities confirmed 53 new infections on Monday.

The Centre for Health Protection reported that of the 53, there were 10 imported cases. Among those were two domestic workers from the Philippines, aged 30 and 29.

Seven cases boarded the same Nepal Airlines flight RA409 on Dec. 22, while another imported case came from the Netherlands.

Dr. Chuang Shuk-kwan from the CHP’s communicable disease branch said 11 of the local cases were workers at the construction site in the Tseung Kwan O – Lam Tin Tunnel.

An outbreak also emerged in the day ward of a hospital in Kwai Chung after its staff attended to a 66-year-old female patient who was confirmed to have Covid-19 yesterday. Visitors of that ward in the last week will have to get tested.

Six local Covid-19 cases had untraceable origins, Chuang said.
